Incorporating both the Level 2 Gym Instructing and Level 3 Personal Training qualifications, this course ensures that you will have everything you need to start working as a Personal Trainer in whichever environment you choose. The team also give you ongoing support and advice with your career and this course includes several extras, such as an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification and group training (circuits). The part-time option involves 8 non-consecutive attendance weekends (Saturday/Sunday, 9am to 4pm) combined with home study using our interactive online platform. This is ideal if you are looking to qualify alongside other commitments. They also offer a full-time study option.

  • Planning and conducting of physical activity sessions, within a variety of environments using multiple resources.
  • Client consultations using the most accepted methods and providing strategies for successful behaviour change.
  • Communication skills to effectively build successful relationships with their clients and other health care professionals.
  • Legal and professional requirements for personal training.
  • How to set up and manage a personal training business on a self-employed basis if they wish to.
  • How to manage, evaluate and improve own performance.

Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training

Prerequisites - what's required to participate?

No previous qualifications are required, but due to the nature of the course some gym/exercise experience would be desirable prior to starting, as are reasonable literacy and numeracy skills.

Must be over 16 years of age.

Career Development

Completing this qualification will allow you to:

  • Work in a gym as a gym instructor or personal trainer
  • Work as a freelance personal trainer: set up your own business and train clients in a range of different environments.
  • Develop an online personal training business

You can also develop your career by choosing additional qualifications which allow you to specialise in given areas, such as:
