FABS Training Programme

The FABS Fast Track Programme includes 20 hours of guided eLearning with step-by-step video tutorials and downloadable manuals, followed by two days of Zoom-based practical training and assessments.

Key learning outcomes

• Teach a variety of exercises, including seated, supported, and standing routines.
• Understand the physical changes associated with ageing and how to adapt exercises to accommodate these changes.
• Motivate older adults to stay active and adhere to a regular exercise routine.
• Design and lead engaging exercise sessions that are safe, effective, and fun.
• Use simple choreography to create exercise to music routines that promote social interaction.
• Modify exercises for individual needs and abilities.
• Evaluate sessions for effectiveness and plan progressive training.

The FABS Training Programme offers a versatile approach to exercise, suitable for teaching in both seated and standing positions, giving fitness professionals a wider scope of practice.

The eLearning component is assessed through quiz-style questions, while the practical training involves demonstrating your ability to lead a taster session with 10 allocated exercises.

Practical assessment days run from 9.00am to 5.30pm, learners must attend both days in full.

Level 2 fitness qualification or equivalent

Enhances knowledge and practical ability to work with people living with long term health conditions/older adults.

Provides opportunities to work with social prescribers and health-related organisations/charities.
